***UPDATE***

Due to injury, Seagrass Studio will not be able to participate in the 2024 Pottery Studio Tour. We wish Claire a speedy recovery!

Claire Kennedy of Seagrass Studio is a brand new addition to the Denman Island Pottery Studio Tour in 2024!

A part-time potter for ten years, Claire’s work is contemporary, quirky and functional and has never before been made available to the general public. Until now, only friends and family have been gifted with her pieces. “I love creating pottery for people to enjoy, whether it be for sharing food or displaying a bouquet of flowers.”

As a semi-retired landscape designer, pottery is merely another creative outlet for Claire. Inspiration is based in nature with stripe, textures and dots being her favoured themes. Drawn to neutral tones, matte glazes, and hints of turquoise, she prefers to hand build all her work and uses a rolling pin rather than a slab roller leading to unique shapes with added textures.

“I make my own glazes but am more of a cook than a chemist; I follow recipes and know what I like.”

Claire’s work will be displayed alongside friends and fellow potters, John and Barb Mills of Raucous Raven, for the duration of the Tour. Do not rely on Google Maps for the location of the studio! The address is 9850 Green Hill Road, look for the vase signs directing you to the correct location.
